맨발의 거리 철학자 

몰려드는 시선과 내리쬐는 햇볕 속에

꾹 다문 입술 사이로 삐져나오는 미소는

악의 없이도 불운을 몰고 오는 장점이지 

맨발을 허용하지 않는 관념의 도시

신체와 얽혀있어야 하는 신발의 부재는

종로3가역 5번 출구 송해거리를 지나

탑골공원 뒤 원각사 무료 급식소 앞에  

얌전하고 경건하게 멈추어 선다네

마땅함 따위는 없고 오로지 선택만 남아

슬픈 사상을 소비하면서도 입은 즐거워

한 끼의 정직한 밥만이 존재를 덮어주네

행복을 덜 사랑한 것이 아니라

불행을 더 사랑한 것이 문제라며

거리를 방황하는 맨발의 철학자

알을 깨고 하늘로 날아가는 새처럼

마음에서는 마음껏 나는 자유를 캐고

육신에서는 맨발의 욕망을 파괴한다네

흘러나오는 미소에 놀라지 않는 혀처럼

성스럽고도 이기적인 맨발의 철학자

고독하기 위해 고립을 택한 탁월한 파괴자

A city that forbids bare feet’s roam,

Shoes bound to bodies, yet feet unshod,

Stops quietly by the free meal hall behind Wongaksa.

No right or wrong remains, only choices remain,

Consuming sorrowful thoughts, yet mouth delights,

An honest meal alone covers existence.

Not for loving less the joy of bliss,

But loving more the grip of woe,

The barefoot philosopher wanders the streets.

Like a bird breaking shell to soar,

His heart digs deep for freedom’s flight,

His flesh destroys barefoot desire.

Like a tongue unmoved by the spilling smile,

Sacred yet selfish, barefoot philosopher,

An excellent destroyer who chooses solitude for loneliness.
